We all know technology plays an important role in every industry as well as in our personal lives. Out of all of the industries
that technology apply in, healthcare is definitely one of the most important. In today’s world, the healthcare industry has
always been in the development of innovation: areas from robotics to telesurgery, from computer chip brain implants to
homes that monitor us for illness, technology has undoubtedly made an incredible impact on medicine. As a result of the
development of these brilliant innovations, healthcare practitioners can continue to find ways to improve their practice—from
better diagnosis, surgical procedures to improved patient care.
Advancements in medical technology have not only allowed physicians to better diagnose and treat their patients since the
beginning of the professional practice of medicine, but also given patients with hope. In order to make concrete use of the
results of science and technology in overcoming disease, and to achieve health care that meets the demand of the people and
society, Taiwan Society of Engineering Technology and Practical Medicine (TSETPM), composed of experts from Mackay
Memorial Hospital and National Taipei University of Technology, was formally founded in 2015 with the objective of
combining the high-end technology and the clinical experience of the medical field. We are looking forward to the continuous
development of technology in the medical field and believe it can be highly effective in the rescue of patients and constantly
improve the overall quality of life over time.
This year, we launch a new journal Health Technology with AME Publishing Company. AME is an international publisher of
medical books and journals, who now owns more than 40 journals covering different fields of Medicine including oncology,
pulmonology, cardiothoracic disease and urology, etc. We will make this journal for all researchers in the field of healthcare
and technology as well as for all healthcare providers who manage the care of patients. The main goal of this journal is to
share the latest ideas and advances through rapid online publication of original healthcare technology researches. The journal
will cover topics from all aspects of medical and biological engineering and medical information technology. Through such
an academic platform, we hope to connect with professionals like biomedical and electrical engineers, physical and computer
scientists, and mathematicians around the world to broaden their knowledge in this interdisciplinary field, which meets our
ultimate goal of benefiting the patients.
